We received a "Late Notice' payment demand for $$33.28, fifteen months after my wife's rotator cuff surgery, even though we had never received any bills from DJO, and
a) after insurance had already paid $49.92 to DJO, and
b) despite never receiving an EoB from our insurer indicating that we did not owe any further balance.
I called 'DJO' who refused to discuss the bill with me, even though my wife delegated full authority to me in her EMR.
They would not even explain to me why no original bill was ever sent, why their bill contradicted the EOB, and why they were billing us fifteen months after the fact. None of those questions violate HIPAA.
Another shabbily run med device company. They should be banned from the business.
