I should love this place as it's a long time local institution. I do love the hens that hang out there. The primary reason I'm a regular is I get my trees there, they are good value, stock is good and there's a pretty good selection. The other plants, especially the annuals, while a good variety, are somewhat overpriced when you can get basic landscape plants at a Home Depot or Lowes for less. The latter plants are for the most part locally grown as well, so they really are the best value.
There is also a very expensive local produce market; the offerings are top quality and primarily support Virginia-based farm operations. Nall's offers monthly co-op options but the focus is family-sized. There is a rotating door of retail staffers there, so it doesn't have that local vibe. Nalls does try to be a local niche destination, offering specialty classes & such.
