We stayed at this resort several times in the past...

We stayed at this resort several times in the past and always enjoyed the hotel. We recently booked two nights and, for the most part, enjoyed our stay until we discovered that we were charged $20 a day for parking. We were never charged in the past. We were never told this when we checked in or when we indicated that we had a car and they had us sign a small permit that we placed in our car. The $20 fee is in small print and on a small sign on one side of the front doors. The hotel has a huge parking lot that wasn't even 1/3 full. When we inquired about the fee , the clerk said it was due to people in the neighborhood parking there. I responded that the blue permit would identify which cars belonged and this didn't make sense. He then said that Napa is a destination place and corporate made the decision to charge for parking. I understand charging in a city with limited space, but this is not the case here. There was ample street parking for free right in front of the hotel. I recommend dropping off your luggage in your room and parking on the street. They are just pilfering as much money as they can.
