Whilst Brixton may not be the nicest part of London, the shining jewel in the area is the famous Academy. As a gig venue, it has seen so many iconic bands play there and has been the subject of live albums and DVD's for artists wanting to capture the atmosphere. The large auditorium has a downstairs standing area with a floor sloping towards the stage to allow for most people to get a great view, as well as a seating area upstairs. Iconic venue and a must visit for any live music fan.
