GROUP BOOKING BEWARE! We contracted the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Toronto to host guests attending our wedding. We were assigned a sales rep who was less than helpful in addressing matters concerning our guests who were booking internationally. During the days leading up to the wedding several guests complained that upon contacting the callcenter, they were either addressed rudely, put on hold for long periods of time or hung up on. As a result several guests either cancelled their reservation with Marriott or decided to book somewhere else entirely. Furthermore, in contacting the callcenter myself, I was 1)dealt by a rep who sounded very disorientated, 2) he made fun of my last name, 3) said he could not find a reservation, 4) put on hold for over 10 mins, 5) returning back on the line with all my confirmation but only after I requested to speak to a supervisor 6) promised to upgrade the room and provide a meal for the poor service but was never emailed a confirmation.
The worst part of all of this whole matter was that upon requesting a new confirmation in writing, I contacted the hotel, who claimed they had no information from the callcenter. I later called back the callcenter and requested to speak to a supervisor who although seemed helpful, was not able to find the rep who served me despite "the call being recorded".
The sales rep from the hotel did contact us to state that they will be upgrading the room as they do for the bride and groom normally but that they will not honor the dinner promised by the callcenter. SMH. I mentioned to the sales rep that even if they provided the dinner it would not make up for the absolutely poor customer service received along the way.
The rooms are fine, nothing spectacular. Note, there is constructions happening right beside the building that may disturb you early in the morning.
I wasn't planning on writing any review until my husband looked at his statement a few days ago to see that they charged him incorrectly and then this morning he was charged again for parking when he has no vehicle and doesn't drive. Those words express my frustration with the Marriott and the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Toronto. If you are planning a wedding or a group occasion DO NOT plan it with the Marriott. They are clearly not well equipped to handle large group functions. Save yourself stress.
