I had been planning our staycation for months at the JW Marriott for the main purpose of the River Bluff. We arrived to find parking already scarce. I was hoping to take the cart driving around to help shuttle people to the entrance. It was disappointing when we saw the guy drive by us hauling golf bags instead. Normally I wouldn't have minded walking up from the bottom of the hill, but it was seriously hot. I was expecting to be greeted with the utmost courtesy and top customer service, but the associate was obviously not happy to be there. In fact I was the one to greet her with how I had a reservation and would like to change the form of payment. Her response should have been welcoming and delightful yet all she said was "your ID?" I stood there for 10 mins without another word. I didn't even know whether my room was ready, wondering what was the hold up. I was not offered my arrival drinks, free wifi, or activity schedule which i expected a welcoming and informative associate to give us once we arrived. Our keys were placed on the counter with her just turning her attention back to the screen. I was in disbelief. We got a room overlooking the front of the hotel which was nice at night and had a balcony with two chairs. The room was done not very well the first night because my kids found an empty soda bottle and a wrapper under the beds ,hair in the tub, and there was no water at the ice bucket. I did however notice the difference the second day in cleaning, and there was even a welcome note from the housekeeper named Teresa. Job well done by her! For the price of the room I expected at least two queen sized beds, microwave and a kurig coffee maker which comes standard in a 3 star hotel. I was attempting to use the app to make request throughout my first night there but I grew impatient on the response time I ended up deleting the app. Each attendant that came to our room were nice and didn't mind answering questions my talkative and curious kids had for them. So I appreciated them. My husband and kids did go down for the Cibolo Moon's breakfast buffet. They said it was good. We enjoyed the water park and glad it was not congested like we had feared it would be. My kids were excited once came time to head back to the room. Bath time was fun for them because they all went at once ...awesome to have separate bath and shower with plenty of room In the restroom itself. I recommend a stool for little ones, we used a chair from the balcony when it came time to brush teeth and wash hands. Overall the highlight of our stay was the River Bluff. I do recommend that chairs should not be held by towels alone if no one is actually occupying them. I did not stop at the desk for check out, but did receive a copy of my folio via email. I should hope that had I done so, a more hospitable associate would have shown their appreciation and sincere concern about how our stay went. Bidding us a good farewell. This is what I as a guest expected, and I as a person with many years of hospitality and customer service experience expects. As a guest my expectations were not met, and I hope for a better experience for others.
