Hinsdale Central 86 school district told us it wasn't a good enough reason and actually illegal to register to their school just because a child moved from out of state that was having a serious issues with their parent and it was causing problems in the child's schooling. So it was decided for her to move here away from a toxic environment so that she can succeed in her education. Please tell me how that isn't good enough and illegal? The child lives in their district with their temporary guardian who lives in the district and proved residency. Temporary guardianship has been notarized by all parties involved and was provided to the school. How Can a public school deny a child to go their school just because they do not like their reason of why they moved from their parents home? Under the Students In Temporary Living Situations Act, schools cannot deny a student's enrollment nor does that student have to provide personal information as to why he/she is in a temporary living situation. Bill Walsh, Assistant Principal, at Hinsdale Central actually said they were taking advantage of tax payers money. We pay taxes. We live in the district. He was very unprofessional and prejudicial based on external appearances. We do not need to divulge the reason why the child is not living with the parent. It's our legal right. This is not the first time he has ostracized a person or the parent when the child doesn't live with the parent. Him probing for personal issues in why the child doesn't live with parent is actually ILLEGAL.
