I was so impressed to begin with, they seemed lovely and would be checking in on me to see how I was getting on with my job search. Then I was offered a job interview, I was told on the phone that the pay was $65,000 (+ super), which was over my salary expectations. I was then sent an email with the job description and details. Had a great interview with the company I was set up with, interviewer tells me a completely different job position/description than what I was told by the agency. Then they asked me what my salary expectation was and I said that I was advised by the agency that they were offering $65,000, which I was happy with. The interviewer then tells me it was 50,000 - 55,000 for the role. Which I was still happy with and I made that clear to them. Also the job title/description I was sent by the agency was in line with the 65k, as it was a bigger role. Was told I would hear back from the agency by the end of the week (interview was last Wednesday). Didn't hear anything so I just called and was basically told that one of the reasons I didn't get the job is because I was looking for too much money (I didn't even say I was looking for that amount of money). Was told that I went in with miscommunication on my end regarding salary and basically blew it. So I pretty much missed out on a job because they put it all on me, that I misunderstood when I know what I heard. Wasted my time, their time and the companies time. At least the lesson I learnt here is to make sure they put the pay in the email as proof, so thanks for the life lesson.
