Spectacular location. Superb building. The three stars are for the lacklustre service. The staff seemed untrained and uninterested. I was attending a wedding - the Avon is uniquely suited for that but, for me, the spell was broken by the long waits at the bar and the plates left on the tables long after the meal was over.
This is basic stuff that any decent hotel should be getting right.
Although the Avon is in a magical setting I won't be in any hurry to return.
