It has been established with a maximum capacity to meet the increasing requirements of international and domestic air transport for the Riyadh region. The site of King Khalid International Airport is in harmony with the cultural environment of the Kingdom, its location reduces noise and air pollution, as well as the safety risks from the city of Riyadh and consistent with its planned growth, and its design is linked to the Islamic heritage and is consistent with the natural beauty of the desert.
The airport occupies an approximate area of 225 square kilometers, and in this area all the main facilities and installations of the airport are located such as the commercial hall complex, the royal hall, the air freight building, the post office, the private aviation building, the mosque, the control tower, and the flight yard that includes two parallel airport runways who reach The length of each of them is (4200) meters, in addition to the ground lanes and the parking of the aircraft. As for the supporting airport buildings, they include: the central administration complex, the public safety complex, the main fire station, two sub-fire stations, the communications building, the meteorological center, the catering building and the central kitchen, the ground services equipment maintenance workshops, the facilities maintenance sections complex, and finally the internal residential complex for families And singles.
