I came on an impromptu visit to Vancouver and felt it crucial that I eat a fish taco while there. Google searches revealed multiple contenders so I chose this one at random. Upon arrival the restaurant was visually appealing, the front-side of the restaurant was an area where you can order take out, with the back of the restaurant being the main, sit-down area. Unfortunately it was a Thursday night in a trendy area of Vancouver and the wait was 45 minutes, we were hungry, and not willing to wait. The dine in area of the restaurant was attractive and looked fun, but was very loud.

We traipsed back out to the take-out area and ordered a fish taco for each of us. Prices were probably pretty reasonable for a large Canadian city. The fish was very nicely breaded and fried, breading was not too heavy nor was the fish greasy. The slaw on top was really quite good as well. Overall it was an above average taco; however I was underwhelmed by the tortilla. I don t think it was a homemade tortilla, definitely tasted mass produced and hadn t even benefitted from a minute on a grill to warm/crisp up.

Overall: I did like this taco and I would love to go back to Tacofino and try some other dishes. This was definitely an above average taco but it was far from the best taco I ve had. I would recommend checking this joint out, particularly if you are able to avoid 45 minute waits!!
