I want to start off by saying I love what this company is trying to do and what it stands for, I m making this review because I couldn t find any information on the hiring process with MAXX. I applied for a mandatory career lab with MAXX back in late December. They contacted me several months later via email about a career lab in about two weeks. I went to the March career lab. Which was difficult because of my classes. Nevertheless, I really wanted to learn, and I felt hands on experience would be awesome while pursuing higher education. I then found out that the career lab was four days long. MAXX uses this to give potential candidates a taste of what they ll be working on if selected. When I arrived, it wasn t what I was expecting, I assumed there d be maybe ten people. Nope, forty people showed up to the lab, seeing that many people was discouraging. Nevertheless, I did the labs, day one started with a presentation about the company. Then we began coding a website for the company. Which was more than I thought we d work on day one. I ve never programmed a day in my life, I applied because I heard they had cyber security positions. Day two we did cyber security which was fun! I don t remember day three. Then day four we had the first interview and a group project that failed (nobody contacted each other). The first interview was easy and was called back for a second the following week. So far so good, but this is where I take issue. I missed a full week of school the week prior to be here. I went into the second interview two weeks later and was asked questions I didn t know the answers too and I kept telling the guy I don t know the answer, but I could figure it out (internet). I didn t bring in anything because I was playing catch up with my classes. I was under the impression this place was about learning and not what you know. Waste of time.
