We had great engagement photos but our wedding photos could have been a lot better.

We were paired with Amanda for our two engagement shoots. Initially, she had forgotten my name and even after correcting her she continued to call me by a different name. We were impressed with our photos and her editing time was quick!

Then came our wedding. We had immediate family only due to COVID. Amanda lacked enthusiasm on our wedding day. She seemed very bothered the whole day and definitely did not want to be there. This was disappointing as we already had a rather frustrating wedding planning experience and we were just so happy that our wedding could go through. She was also unnecessarily snappy and bossy to other wedding vendors. Her second shooter, Jeff was great however.
We do have plenty of very well behaved nieces + nephews that she seemed to be very uncomfortable by. We were told to fill out a form that asked what we expected for our wedding photos (prior to the day.) We wanted nice family photos. A lot of her family photos were one takes and turned out horribly. Every photographer we ve worked with in the past has tried a lot harder to get kids to smile and look at the camera. The effort was not there with Amanda. We also found it interesting that a short while after our wedding Amanda announced on Instagram that she s going out on her own. I don t want to draw conclusions but, I saw this job for her as one of her last for Mango studios therefore didn t have to put the effort forth.

Once the photos were delivered we had asked for some edits. This was a struggle as there were several revisions. For example, editing our nephew s face with a completely different nephew s face.

We also asked about other photos as we remembered more photos being taken that we never received. After them telling us several times that they looked on Amanda s memory cards and not finding any ... they happened to find 80 more photos. They blamed it on Jeff s memory cards which is interesting as Amanda was the one taking a lot of these photos.

It s disappointing as they are a higher end photography company. We are happy with most of the photos we did receive. That being said, when we look back at our experience with Mango Studios, they do leave a poor taste in our mouth.
