Outstanding Museum where you can meet people who work Space & Missile Defense. This place is a lot more intimate than many other more famous museums, but it actually houses the largest collection of space artifacts in the world. There are often docents there working in the museum who worked on the programs that are featured. Most people don't realize that Huntsville Alabama is the epicenter for space engineering in the US, and is crammed with rocket scientiss and engineers. The USSRC is a reflection of the city and part of it's tapestry - doing serious high tech engineering and leadership in an intimate and friendly way. They handle 8 million visitors a year will a full space and aviation camp going year round, but do it in a way that makes you feel like you are visiting friends next door. The Davidson Hall houses a Saturn V rocket, V2 rocket, Skylab, Gemini and Mercury capsules, an Apllo re-entry vehicle, moon rock and tons of other cool artifacts. The museum outside exhibits include the only stack up of a space shuttle and an OXCART aircraft (the CIA predecessor to the SR-71 Blackbird) as well as a full missile defense hall, and a interactive exhibit on the ISS and future Mars missions. If you come on Thursday nights, you can enjoy German food and local brews under the Saturn V rocket - a very local intensive and unique experience. And if you want to have a special event - people actually get married here or have other special events - not cheap, but extremely cool. Highly recommend!
