An amazing honeymoon location! we were met by 3 staff at 10pm at the airport. They gave us each a frangipani necklace and ice cold bottle of water on the boat trip to the resort. We had overwater bungalow number 235. Amazing views of the mountain! We were given a full bottle of champagne, a parero (sarong), and a cap as gifts. The first night we laid on the floor for ages watching the fish under our bungalow. We swam straight off our bungalow into crystal clear and calm waters. We stayed 7 days and didn't see any reef sharks. We saw about 20 species of fish and 4 stingrays over the bungalows. We also saw an eel, crabs, lizards, and of course the gorgeous turtles. The turtle tour is worthwhile and the marine biologist there is just lovely!
The staff at Le Meridien are amazing! The food was delicious! Our package included the breakfast buffet and 2 course a la carte lunch. Both were fantastic and so much food we had to walk it off each time. The fresh fruit is to die for! I will really miss the freshly baked bread and pastries. We also ate once at the dinner buffet (french theme) and I had escargot for the first time (delicious). The price for the dinner buffet was quite high, but considering the amount of food that you could chose from, there would be a lot of waste I'd expect.
I mostly drank cocktails by the pool, which were so delicious!! The lady at the bar is so friendly too. My husband mostly drank the local bear which he said was really good and suited the climate (normally he drinks specialty beers here in NZ). My husband took over a thousand photos (no joke). It really was a magical stay!!
