Everytime I go into a car dealership, I'm always on guard. I have my defenses up, and going into Gateway Toyota was no exception. I am always looking to see where a dealership will take advantage of people. That's how they make their money... at least, that is what I was bred to believe.

I booked an appointment early morning, to drop my car off, one day prior. That was awesome because a lot of times, you have to wait. Not for me, not this time. First plus.

I got there in the morning. I was greeted and service was quick and friendly. I met Laurie Hanlan (Service Advisor) and she was wonderful. Stylish. Friendly. Second plus.

I went to sit down and wait for a shuttle. That took about ten minutes. Quick service. They dropped me off at work and I was on time. Excellent. Third plus.

Laurie called me during the day to let me know that there were some problems with my car (It's an old car and these problems were expected). The amount of money to get them fixed is outrageous... but it's guaranteed... so you get what you pay for. I was able to cross one of the items off but there is still a laundry list of fixing to do. No one likes paying an arm and a leg... but cars are a liability and everyone knows that (especially old cars).

They were able to get the work done that I had allowed and my schedule pickup time was for 4:30 from work. The weather wasn't that great out... I had to wait outside for an hour before I was picked up! I called repeatedly, and spoke with reception and two different drives, who told me they would be there right away... I was locked outside work and it wasn't a great experience. Big-time con. I could have organized a ride if I knew that it was going to be that bad. When the driver picked me up, he was understanding, thoughtful and very respectful. That was the good part.

When I finally got there, my car was washed on the outside and ready to go, which was nice. That is a plus right there... You get what you pay for. (minus the ride)

All in all, I had a good experience with Gateway in that I didn't have to worry so much about what I was initially worried about... 4 stars is about the right rating and I'd go here again, I'll just be more wary of the travel arrangements. Not like a lot of the other Toyota places around the city... Gateway Toyota is number one by comparison.
