I have had 2 terrible experiences with LIVS in the past 4 months. The most recent was on 7/14,
I brought my 10 y/o shorkie in for an inflammatory airway/cough that kept happening over and over for several hours. I arrived at 10:20p and waited in the car for over an hr before they took him in when there was only 2 others cars in the parking lot. Another hour later the Dr. calls to tell me they want to do a chest X-ray, bloodwork, and a biopsy of his lymph node in his leg , she reported no physical exam findings except a swollen lymph node. I asked his temperature, oxygen saturation, breath sounds and ear exam since he has been having ear odor and itching for 2 days prior and she told me it would be bad medicine to tell you what I think it is without running the tests didn t have his temp, told me his o2 sat was not accurate because he was moving (same nonsense they told me when our other dog was in there in March). I don t know if it was just bad luck but the vet we saw was not cut out for this, she was an absolutely horrible clinician who didn t have any clue without ordering $$ tests. Its sad to hear they will only look into my dog further if I m willing to spend $5k+ on testing. Our dog left without any treatment or diagnosis (not even a dose of steroid or bronchodilator or help with his obviously inflamed tight airway) and I was there until 1:45am, horrible practice. I felt after I said no to the expensive radiological imaging and lymph node aspiration the vet didn t want to treat him anymore which is really sad. Only after I asked for something to get him through the night until I could get in our regular vet did she offer cough syrup and then when he was discharged hours later the assistants who brought him out said he will likely need the cough medicine for the rest of his life and it s likely a tracheal collapse and he was end of life.
Our other experience with them was back in March when our 5lb 9 y/o shorkie-poo had developed acute respiratory distress, I rushed her in and they made me wait in the car until her mucus membranes where literally blue and I ran into the building begging for help. They had no idea off clinical exam what was wrong (again poor clinicians, it was the same dr both times) and made us do multiple chest X-rays and echo cardiogram, bloodwork, and ICU stay for 3 days she was diagnosed with suspected mitral valve disease and wound up dying at home a few days after discharge from the hospital. Worst experience ever, I will never ever go back here and strongly urge others to keep clear unless you want to drop thousands of dollars for subpar medical evaluation.
