First off let me state that this hospitals nick name is "el mata gente". That should give you a clue to the kind of treatment you receive here
. I took my cousin who is from New Jersey here because this is the only hospital his insurance covers. When we got there they said they had a room for him. When they let him the said the room that they had for him was actually full, so my cousin was on a hospital bed in the middle of the hallway. After 10 minutes a nurse gave took his vitals and looked and his throat with a pen that had a light in the back. After that we were in the hallway for about 20 minutes before they let us in a room that took them about 5 seconds to clean after discharging someone else. After waiting about 2 hours a doctor finally came in. And she looked at his throat with the flashlight from an IPhone when she had the tool doctors always use right next to me. She said he looked fine & that she was going to give him medication for the pain (because he was sick and was having body aches). After my aunt called and told my mom to ask for a throat culture the NURSE, not the doctor said okay and did one. The results were HE HAD STREP !!! So she almost released him with step. To top it off the nurse disposed of the needles he used on my cousin in the trash can! We invented biohazard waste for a reason ! Besides that the doctors and nurse are hard to get a hold of and have major attitudes. Understaffed, uniformed, and lack of communication are three words that come to head when I think of this hospital. Being a premed student and seeing this makes me sick to my stomach.
