The airport is very modern and clean just as Singapore, Seoul, or Hong Kong airport, but larger. Although we only transit through, we has to pass through a passport control and tight security checkpoint. The Chinese security officials were efficient, information desk was helpful. One had to give them one's cell phone number to get access to airport WIFI. The food was expensive and there were only 4 or 5 restaurants including some fast-food places such as Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut. In a self-service restaurant, two orders of hamburger came with little fries, a bowl of fries, and one small bottle of water, without cup or class, set me back 40 USD (270 RMB). Two Big Mac meals at terminal five of O'hare airport in Chicago would cost 12 USD plus tax. All the restaurants were basically empty at the dinner time.
