10 years ago I would have given this resort 5 stars. Even though the size and parks do not compete with some of their competitors, the service and cleanliness is what kept us coming back. Over the years it has slowly become one of the worst resorts in the WI Dells area. Our last trip to Chula Vista was absolutely not worth the $1100 for a weekend.
Please see the attached images.
When we first got unloaded in our room there was a strong smell of urine. I wish I would have taken pictures of this though with unpacking and twin 4 year olds arguing I didn't think to take a picture at this time. But there was clearly pee on the back side of the toilet, on the floor and the wall. My wife being a neat freak cleaned it with her own Clorox wipes and then also cleaned and wiped down the shower as there was hair all over the shower. That got me thinking, I should have shown this to the front office. It was disgusting!! We never got the smell out so I told the front office to clean it again and get rid of the smell and also provide us with bath soap. The smell lingered all weekend as they only tried to mask it. You can see in one of the images we had no soap. It was like this the entire trip and I asked for soap twice! We ended up buying our own soap on day 2 since I figured it was a lost cause. This also has to do with them being 5 stars in the passed and not now. In the passed they provided nice soap and lotion. It was an actual bar and bottled shampoo. What happened with that?!
Still on the bathroom. I know toilet seats are not built to last forever. But replace them with the correct size!!
On to the kitchen. The microwave was damaged. How long has it been like this?? The cleaning crew said they had no idea it was broken. They provided only 2 forks (4 of us). I am guessing theft is to blame but seriously.. make sure the room is right before a family checks in! We also asked for an actual flipping style spatula. We never got that either. Pancakes were a lot of fun trying to flip with what ever the spatula is in my picture.
I understand that hotels and resorts do not replace the comforters between guests. One, I hate this and two, the comforters were absolutely disgusting!! They were discolored (dirty) and the stench of them was not right. Just not right at all. They were so bad we rolled them up and put them in the dressers. The last thing I am going to bring up and pisses me off more than anything. We found a needle under our dresser!! And guessing by the moldy food under the dresser, the needle must have been under here for some time. Probably would still be there today but we lost my wife's drivers license and I just so happened to look there.
$1100... my God this was an absolute joke. I highly recommend the Khalari or the Wilderness. The management takes it way more serious at those 2 resorts. There prices were only slightly higher and the only reason we went to the Chula Vista was for the smaller water park. It is way easier on smaller kids. Oh!! That being said. The pools are not clean either!!!! The walls should be bright. Not stained and covered in dirt.
Sorry for the long review!!
