It seems that hotels in Downtown Toronto are almost always busy and full unless booked well in advance. This is a decent, typical long established, high rise hotel with very friendly, helpful staff and clean and comfortable, if unspectacular, rooms. It is situated on Yonge Street (no. 475), on the edge of Downton area, approximately 1.4 miles north of the lakeshore and 0.5 miles from the Eaton Centre. However it is very near to 'College' metro station, so is convenient for public transport.
As usual, rates are for room only. There is an on-site restaurant for breakfast at about a $24 pp/day supplement but with a metro supermarket across the road, we managed perfectly well purchasing breakfast food items there at the end of each day and using the in-room fridge and coffee/tea making facilities before setting off to enjoy the City each day.
For lunch and dinner, eating places abound in Toronto but the nearby colourful, popular "Hair of the Dob" pub in Church Street offers excellent friendly service, a wide range of drinks and very good food at reasonable prices, so is well worth consideration.
I would suggest, if possible, do your best to secure a room at least 6-7 floors up (the higher the better), thereby having some kind of view. The downside though is that the lift system can be a bit slow at busy times. Whilst ideally prefering to stay a little closer to the centre of Downtown, e.g. The Eaton Centre, we would be happy to stay here again on any subsequent visit.
