I reached out to rateGenius to refinance my vehicle. Initially everything seemed great, my loan officer David B. was very nice and explained how everything would work. He gave me a list of items to gather and send electronically and a pre-paid envelope to mail in the title, all which needed to be completed in 10 days or less for the payoff quote. I completed everything on his list and mailed in the envelope. A few days later I get a phone call around 7pm saying that I didn't submit all of the necessary documentation--which I knew was false because I had a clear checklist provided. Apparently, the rate they matched me up with required autopay to be setup which I was Never told about. I had to go to my bank and get an ACH form in one day or less or the payoff date would have passed. Luckily I have a flexible schedule, but that could have screwed me if I didn't. They also screwed up my "references". I supplied two references per their request on time, but they said I never submitted them. All-in-all, other than the last minute surprises, the service did save me about $30 a month through the refi. I would have rated much higher had David been upfront about EVERYTHING they needed, and not tell put the blame on me saying I forgot to send them in.
