When it's time to get out of SF for something a bit different, head over to Angel Island via the Ferry near Fisherman's Wharf. You won't regret it. There's plenty of hiking and biking to do, tons of trails and paved paths. It's fun for all ages. There's a "snack bar" and food options in case you forget a lunch, but the best bet is to pack a lunch and eat at the top of the island.
