Mark S Review of Jackson Lake Lodge, Wyoming

We want to share our experience specifically with the Mural Room Restaurant at Jackson Lake Lodge. While we enjoyed the hotel and had a great room, our dining experience with the Mural Room was terrible. First, don't be fooled by their advertising, the Mural Room is not an upscale intimate dining experience. It is a loud, giant dining room, in which you will see patrons dressed in just about anything that you would see out on the trails in the Tetons. Second, we made reservations at 6:30 and while we were seated reasonably quickly, it took nearly an hour to receive our appetizer. It then took another 90 minutes to receive our entrees. Our waitress apologized and brought us some sorbet in between, but no other accommodations were made. Our wine was warm by the time our dinner arrived. One of our entrees, an expensive fish dish, was dry and unappealing. I would have sent it back, but I didn't like the idea of eating at midnight. In the end we didn't get out of there (even skipping dessert) until around 9:20, missing the sunset that we were hoping to see. I would suggest that anyone avoid this dining room and eat at the Pioneer Grill instead.
On a positive note, the main hotel is lovely, the Pioneeer Grill is a cool place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (if you don't mind eating at a counter), and the views from the rooms in the main hotel are superb. The location is also quite good for visiting he northern end of the Tetons park or the southern end of Yellowstone (still a bit of a drive).
ADDENDUM: We received a call from the hotel manager after they received our feedback. He acknowledged a problem with their kitchen that they had been working on and refunded the full price of our meal.
