Xander Buys Review of Sabi River Sun

Inquiries made on relevant Facebook groups indicated that either the Waterval-Boven or Schoemanskloof routes would be suitable to take us to Sabi River Sun Resort, located just outside Hazyview. We opted to take the N4 Waterval-Boven route. The roadworks we experienced on previous trips to the area were all completed. We did, however, experience a short length of roadworks in the vicinity of Milly's, where we stopped for a light lunch.
We arrived on schedule and check-in went smoothly and efficiently. We would, however, recommend a detailed resort map to be handed to guests upon arrival as we struggled to locate our assigned unit. We unpacked and moved the vehicles to the assigned parking lot, a short distance away. The unit was spotlessly clean and well maintained but we found a couple of areas that warranted attention. A project to refurbish all the units were underway during our stay that would take care of the couple of issues we detected.
Our son went for a jog early in the morning, following the route set out on the resort grounds and afterwards, we spent the time exploring and taking photographs at the resort. The surrounding gardens are kept extremely neat. The highlight, of course, being the hippo pond with an appropriately located viewpoint, where numerous hippos, birds and other wildlife can be seen. There are various other pathways and ponds as a result of the golf course intersecting the holiday units.
Embarked for home and again stopped at Milly's after taking the Schoemanskloof (R36 & R539) route home.
