If you re ever in Brooklyn and interested in local...

If you re ever in Brooklyn and interested in local history specifically about the transit system of Nee York then this is a place you must see. Situated in an old subway station that has been transformed into what is now known as the NY Transit Museum it offers a glimpse into how the original subway was constructed, designed, the engineering troubles they had to overcome and a special exhibit on how the MTA responded to and managed the system during natural disasters such as cyclone Irene as well as the terrorist attack of 9/11. I d allow for a good 2hrs to explore both levels. Check in advance for the times that the free guided tours run. At the end of the Museum there is also a gift shop with some weird and wonderful things....there are also interactive exhibits for kids.
