My wife badly injured her knee. As in it is litterally hanging at an unnatural angle. We went to this er because it was the closest to us. I wish we had gone anywhere else.

The nurse ramed the hurt leg into the wall 4 times wheeling her to the room. He was so flustered they could not put in an iv. Then we had to request ice for the immediate swelling that was happening and educate the staff what RICE means (rest ice compression elevation, standard advice for pain and swelling).

They took an xray, informed us that a knee injury does not qualify as EMERGENCY care, and discharged her with her blood pressure at 195/115 from OBVIOUS pain. We were not in there searching for pain pills. You can visibly see there is damage. Her discharge papers are for knee pain, no instructions for care. They did throw a brace on her and hand her crutches with no instructions, but it seemed like the 2 nurses who put the brace on had never seen one and really just wanted an excuse to try it out.

The only instructions given were to see an orthopedic surgeon. Which naturally cannot happen on a Saturday, the day of this issue. I called back because the knee is now 3 times it's normal size and just asked what I could do for swelling in the meantime. I was very rudely told they cannot give me pain medication (again, NOT what we asked for or even need). The only "advice" given was to come back in, pay another copay, and still be told that a knee does not qualify as emergant care.

If you need anything more than a bandaid please seek out a real hospital for your care.
