December 31st - Jan. 1, 2020: The first visit for the back surgery went fairly well. The staff for the surgery seemed highly competent, and kept us informed every step of the way. The nursing staff on 5th floor was much the same and very compassionate.
Jan. 2nd (we arrived on the 1st) - Jan. 3, 2020: The Emergency Room was a mess. It took about 2 hour to be seen for treatment. I was expected to "rest" on a gurney, for about 6-7 hour, in a seated position of about 110 degrees, after having back surgery the day before. I was not allowed to eat anything for hours after the last test. I was there for a total of 16 hours, finally spending the last hour in a bed in the back area. The night doctor told us around 6:00 am that I was going to be admitted; after that the staff continued to tell us for hours, that there were no rooms available.
When I was finally assigned a room upstairs, things went much better. Most staff was very considerate and appeared very competent. One nurse, again from the ER, flipped my legs up to push me into the bed, to do an IV, so hard and fast, it caused extreme pain from my surgical wound. Not a word of concern from him...
I would give the surgical team, and hospital nurses a 4+, but the ER didn't earn the 1 star I gave.
I would not recommend your facility to anyone I know.
