Richard Wingfield Review of Mauritshuis
One of my favourite galleries in the Netherlands, ...
One of my favourite galleries in the Netherlands, if not the world. As a huge fan of the Dutch Golden Age, this gallery contains some of the most beautiful pieces of art that exist. The crowning jewel, for me, is the Girl with the Pearl Earring by Vermeer, but there is a fantastic range of other pieces from the period, including by Holbein, Rembrandt and Steen. The Mauritshuis itself is a beautiful, nicely sized museum and can easily be done in half a day (or even less for those who want to pop in and view some of the highlights). No trip to The Hague should omit a visit here.
