Mark Schweisfurth Review of Fit 1 Boot Camp Fitness

I am a physical therapist working in the state of Michigan and I have been training at FIT 1 for almost five years. My wife discovered it and told me how much she loved it and now I feel the same way. I am really impressed with owner Len Benoit s approach to boot camp style training. For those that may be interested in joining, I have summarized below the reasons why I think FIT 1 is a great choice for your fitness needs.
THE FACILITY
FIT 1 has one of the best functional training facility that I have ever seen. It is well equipped with a wide variety of equipment in multiples to easily accommodate even large classes of 20 or more. It is always clean and everything is always in perfect working order which is also testament to the relative simplicity of its equipment. The floor space is large, the ceiling is high and the space has an uncrowded and airy feel.
THE TRAINING APPROACH
FIT 1 training is based on some basic principles:
Variety: work outs are really various which keeps them from getting boring and repetitive
Organization: all workouts are well described and communicated. All workouts include both warm-up and warm down phases.
Progressive challenge: exercises are broken down into beginner, intermediate and advanced versions, depending on an individual's fitness level
Safety - exercises are taught with emphasis on technique. Once technique is mastered, intensity is slowly ramped up. Workouts are intense, but the goal is not to wreck you.
Comprehensive total fitness - there are few activities that can really claim to be a total approach to fitness . If you are going to FIT1 three times per week, you really don t need to do anything else. All body parts are targeted: legs, arms, core and mind. Heart rate is kept at a moderate to high level throughout, so there is always a cardiovascular fitness element at play.
THE OWNER
Coaching - Len Benoit brings a serious yet low key approach to training. Everyone gets individualized help and advice. He does not run his boot camp like a gulag, but he expects you to work hard and do your best. He plays music. He tries to keep it fun.
The Vibe - there is a social aspect to the club. It is not just a place where people work out, it is a place where friends meet, where people get to know each other. There are fundraising efforts, group events like doing the Tough Mudder team run, and even a few parties. Participation in these extracurricular aspects is optional.
Inclusivity - members range widely in ability and commitment and Len caters to them all.
I recommend FIT 1 for anyone that wants to try something new and rewarding. Taking your fitness goals to the next level sometimes requires a new environment, a new approach, a new coach. It all comes down to hard work, but give yourself the best chance to succeed.
