It saddens me to write this review. I graduated from Cobo Hall in 2009. But today August 14, 2009 I was treated extremely rudely by an security guard at Cobo Center. I don t know if the security guard us an employee of Cobo Center or not but he needs to be held accountable. I live downtown and I usually get an afternoon run on the river walk. I went into Cobo hall to use the restroom and take the people mover back home like I always do everyday. Walking into the building i had my earphones on. As soon as I got my hands on the women s restroom door, I saw the security guards hand near my face. That s when I took my earphones off. Then he proceeds to talk very rudely to him about disrespecting him and me ignoring him. He tells me that no music is ever that good for me to have it up that high. I explained to him that I couldn t hear him and that all I have to do is use the restroom and take the people mover back home. I asked him if I could please use the restroom the then let s me go. Before I go in he lets me know there is a restroom
Near the people mover that I could instead use. As soon as I left the restroom he starts to follow me up stairs ( meanwhile who is watching the station he was sitting at). As I get nearer to the the restroom where the security guard said there was another restroom, it s locked (it s always locked and I because I am there everyday). I understand that Cobo hall is a private property, but I didn t know that people could not use the restroom in the building or go to the people mover without being followed and made to feel that I had broken the law and trespassed on private property. All the security guards that I have encountered before have never been disrespectful towards me or made me feel
Like I was a trespasser. I didn t get the security guards name, but I do plan to speak to management the next business day to talk about my experience.
