We booked the imperial suite at the St. Regis for 2 nights and were expecting some 5 star service however the hotel miserably failed in catering for our needs and the basic needs of any guest.
First of all the furniture in the suite is old and dirty. The sofas are stained, the floor is cracked and the TV is OLD! VERY OLD, and slow with no Internet access.
Second my daughter had a minor cute on her eyebrow during our stay and there were no 1st aid kits available in the room. When we asked the concierge, we were given 1 band aid and 1 tiny betadine gauze.
Also there was no panadol at the hotel and we were advised to send a taxi to buy panadol.
Adding to this, the need to pay for everything on the spot as nothing can be charged on the room (again with no logical explanation why). So imagine ordering drinks when you are at the pool and having to go up and get ur wallet and pay every single time.
Last but not least, the mini bar was empty (apparently due to COVIID) so when we ordered 2 soft drinks at 11 pm we had the staff knocking at our door twice to get the money, claiming taht the machine was not working and that they needed cash. We did not have change so they left and again they called us at 11 pm to request the pending 50 rials that could not wait for the morning.
To cut a long story short, we were treated like thieves trying to run away with 50 rials. Staff were friendly and tried to resolve the issues but I do believe the hotel's problem is much bigger tahn taht. Policy changes, refurbishment and leadership presence are to be considered and revisited if teh hotel is intending to improve.
