After traveling all day, and looking forward to a 4-Star hotel experience, with the opportunity to finally get some rest, I arrived at the Hotel at 1:30am completely exhausted and was not welcomed with the quality of service of even a 2 star establishment.
Downtown Memphis is a rough neighborhood with a high crime rate. I was told by the African American gentlemen behind the counter that the hotel did not have a designated parking garage AT ALL...?! That they only had valet on certain hours on the weekend... And that I would have to park my loaded vehicle in the street (if I could even find one) He dismissively told me that their security circled the building ... I expressed my concerns that my vehicle would not be safe from the homeless or and thieves cutting the straps and taking the stuff off the top of my car... He admitted if there was not available parking close to the building, then he couldn t do anything about it.
His demeanor turned even more unhelpful when I confirmed that there was NO parking available and asked him to cancel my room as I couldn t risk the exposure. He snidely responded that he could not refund my room charges and didn t seem to want to be any more helpful. I had to get stern with him to even get him to write down the managers number and his name.
For now, I d rather keep driving or sleep in my car than stay at The Napoleon Hotel.

We will see if they do the right thing and actually refund the charges. I truly hope that this guy s reactions to me were not racially motivated as I am a white woman.
