My wife and I stayed at this hotel in August, 2019...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in August, 2019 for three days. First, the single positive point: Our room deck, facing the ocean, though small, was wonderful, with a great view of the beach and the night sky. I imagine most of the other decks are of the same quality, but make sure to get a room as high up as you can. Our room was on the ninth floor. Now the negative points: The first thing that we noticed when we walked into our room was an iron hanging on the wall near the front door. This hotel is in dire need of renovation, and seems not to have been updated since the 70s or 80s. The bathroom was pitiful with an old shower curtain but with clean but antiquated wallpaper, the furniture in the room had clearly not been replaced in decades, the carpeting was dirty and stained, no bedspread was furnished for our two Queensize beds, only two cups and an inadequate supply of coffee was provided for the room, the elevators looked like freight elevators used for commercial deliveries, the section of the parking lot where we parked our car (near the entrance to the hotel) was adjacent to the garbage disposal unit and smelled disgusting each time we walked by, the metal overlays on the steps leading to the main entrance of the hotel were loose and clanked every time we stepped over them (you'd think the hotel staff could fix something as minor as this), and the hotel restaurant (the Surf Club Ocean Grille) had terrible food and, worse than that, every time the waitors walked from table to table to collect the used dishes they would throw them into a bin, of which, never in my life have I ever heard such clanking of dishes in a restaurant (if you must eat there, MAKE SURE to get an outside table). Needless to say, my wife and I will never stay in this hotel again, though the one thing we will miss is the wonderful outside deck.
