I am so very very happy that I chose Jonquil Smyrn...

I am so very very happy that I chose Jonquil Smyrna to live. After one month here, it is unbelievable to me that every single person I have met has left me astonished with their kindness, happy faces with huge smiles and the mention of racism seems to be some distasteful word from long ago.

I was extremely impressed with Officer Haygood when he was summoned to make a welfare check at my apt by a friend who knew I wasn't doing well after a move from Florida an losing my home to hurricane Irma.

At first I doubted he was the police at my door in the wee hours. But once I
let him in, I discovered a kind and very thoughtful man who offered to take some things out of my car on one very cold night. He saw I was fine, but worn out from the entire experience. We had a wonderful chat and he offered me some assistance in getting settled in his off time. No question he is one of the outstanding people in this community
who is working hard to make Smyrna
a a better place and hopefully making it one of those "ten safest or best places to live in America" on the internet.

I am no newbie to Georgia. I lived and worked 30 years in Dunwoody, Roswell and Cobb County before retiring in Florida for 7 years. So for those of you who contend the police here are abrasive or unfair, I say spend just one week in their shoes because I have seen real hate and crime in that place. How many of you would have the courage to walk up to a car driving erratically or on the ptoperty where you got a call for violence. EVERY TIME these officers get a call, they have no idea what they will face and even in the best of situations, things can go south very quickly.

You folks that have watched too many you tubes about how to stand up to the law need to get a grip on reality. We are living in dangerous times and you should thank the police for their service.
No one likes to get a ticket but that is the price we pay for a safe society. If you dont like the way the law works here, get out of your shell and go to a 3rd world country where you settle with a "non offense" by giving the police all the money in your pocket right on the the spot so he can give his sergeant
his share of the take every week. You don't have any idea what a hostile cop is until you have been to the places I have seen. These people don't decide they want to ne an officer because they love their job.....it is because their family has the right connections and enough money to buy the job.

Following an officers instructions is not that hard if you are innocent. The only reason someone can't put their hands on the wheel or show their license is to prove in their simple minds they are more powerful than the law. When I read most of these one star reviews what went through my mind was "thank God this jerk isnt My neighbor because I have low tolerance for ignorance.

And thank you again Officer Haygood for your service. You are the best!
