We were passing through town and found a little kitten on the side of a highway while getting gas. We stopped at three places (the first two wouldn't accept him due to zoning), and we finally were referred to CCSPA. They took our info and took the cute kitten. We thought we were leaving him in good care. Where we are from and the shelters we are used to, the animal has 30 days to find a home and if not the people who brought them in are contacted before they consider euthanasia. We emailed them and tried to keep ourselves updated because we would have figured out a way to keep her alive, even though we are on the other side of the country. After 7 DAYS, you heard it, only 7 days, they put down the kitten, citing not being able to fix her yet and not finding her a home.
I am sure they are understaffed and overwhelmed, BUT it is terrible that they put him down after only a week, without contacting the people who brought him in who were literally in contact with the shelter since the day after we dropped him off. If you value the life of the pet in your care and want it to have a fighting chance of actual adoption or living, DO NOT take them to CCSPCA. I don't know much about Fresno, but the services of their animal services and shelters are lacking.
