withering rose Review of FLVS

I see so many people rating this 1 star but the system itself is 4 stars. The reason I gave 3 stars is problems in contacting. I love the system of FLVS and it works great. I take 3 courses BUT 2 of my instructors take anywhere from 2 days to 1 week to respond to my questions, concerns, and emails. In my most recent case to the time I post this review, I requested access to the test I need to take to be able to move on, the end of module test. I asked about a week ago but when I tried to get in today, it was still locked and my instructor hadn't emailed me back. Also, I would've asked for help about this under the contact section of FLVS BUT it was very un-user friendly. I had to log into something but no matter what I tried, my registered email, my name, my username, etc and no matter which of my passwords I used, nothing worked. Basically, I had no contact with FLVS of my troubles or with 1 of my instructors about unlocking a test for me. Again, it's a good system and nice other than those issues but of the contact problems, it's quite bothering. One last note, it says to work at your own pace but they are generous to tell you how much you've completed in percent form and also give different pace charts for planning your pace. BUT sometimes the pace charts will say that the only way you'll be able to finish the course on time is if you complete 4 assignments in 1 week. Not only that but sometimes each of those single assignments take about 1 week to do. An example of this is the PE course. Each week I have to do either 2 or 3 lessons, each lesson with up to 4 assignments, including 1 log. The logs themselves take 1 week to do, just 1 log. Like a lot of the other reviews say, yes, it CAN be stressful. But don't lose hope if you do this system. I started 2 of my courses 2 weeks late due to issues with getting it approved by my counselor and then some technical difficulties with it not letting me in, but I'm almost completely caught up with them. With 1 I'm still quite far behind, by about 15%, and it's for PE. It's hard. One example of how long the logs take is the dance lesson. 1 week for the log and then you have to choreograph a dance and take a video of yourself performing it with the song for it. That assignment PLUS 2 others in 1 WEEK! AND you have to turn in the video, but the lesson teaches dance etiquette, not HOW to dance! Overall, the whole thing is OK and I WOULD recommend it although it could use improvement.
