MTV Unplugged is a music series that aired MTV, featuring famous musicians play acoustic instrument. The first rock musician to appear unplugged on MTV was Jethro Tull on November 17, 1987, but at that time the event was not yet named. XTC did the same thing in May 1989. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora played "Livin 'On A Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive" acoustically at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards. A positive reaction to this appearance made MTV develop the MTV Unplugged series.
