As a recent Ivey grad, I agree with both the 5-star and 1-star reviews. Ivey is one of the best business schools in Canada. The education I received was second to none. Ivey does have its issues and I feel obliged to outline them.

Most Ivey faculty members are genuinely great people. I've had a number of profs who I know I can reach out to 30 years down the line.

But, I can see the whole "unprofessional faculty members". I will never forget the prof who stole a student's business idea, after he asked him for help, and only backed out after the student got his lawyer involved. Or the prof who tried sleeping with his students. Or the prof who, immediately after being promoted, began abusing her authority and reporting a student she disliked for frivolous activities. Although they're just the " few bad apples", it is more than a little disappointing that Ivey hasn't done anything to address these people.

There is also definitely an issue surrounding accommodations for missed classes as outlined somewhat brashly by other reviewers. The Ivey case method, as great of a teaching method it is, also encourages sick students who should be at home resting, coming to class. With participation being a large component of your grade, you are penalized 1-2% of your course grade for every class you miss. I once showed up to classes with a 38 degree fever, when I should have been at home resting, because I was scared for the academic repercussions I'd face if I didn't show up. Although getting a doctor's note is an option, that is a whole other issue which is not isolated to Ivey.
