Tricare Prime sent me to Walter Reed from Fairfax, VA, to see a gynecologist for post menopausal bleeding. I had no choice in the matter. I had zero confidence in the "gynecologist" (if that was her field?). She did not seem competent, and she attributed my symptoms to GI tract issues. She ruled out endometrial cancer only on the basis of the ultrasound I had at Virginia, non-military, facility. She offered to do an exam but implied that would only be to make me feel better. My blood pressure was 160/85 when I arrived, and even though the staff said they would check it again in a few minutes, I was there for an hour with no follow up check of my blood pressure. The visit was worse than a waste of time! Afterward I changed my Tricare from Prime to Select. Thank goodness it is still open season. I NEVER want to go to a military medical facility for care again!
