It's awesome and awful. The referents are extremely unkind, and they forget that they, themselves, are taxpayers' living on their own. They give you a phone number to call, and then they don't answer everything neatly. Extremely unprofessional. They wonder if they will one day face similar torture and ill-treatment. Because when you're retired, you don't need anyone, and quickly all relationships fall into oblivion.
