If I could give half a star, I would. Please listen to me when I say DO NOT GO HERE. You will regret it. I think it's a decent school for grad students or for students who want the commute but overall it stinks at giving a college experience. The dorms (the closest thing to living a college life at uic) are extremely expensive. Also, I had to leave due to be sick with mono and strep twice first semester. I had a doctors note and everything but they would only give me 25% back out of thousands and thousands of dollars. The teachers also could care less about the students and they're only there as a side job to their research. There's also no so called "diversity" since there is a divide between racial groups which reflects on how most people's friend groups are. People here are rude! Not trying to racial profile or anything but because of this racial divide and hugely due to the fact that most people commute, allows for no open environment to meet people (which college is supposed to have). Also, the cafeteria food will give you diarrhea even though they charge you $10 per meal. Most of the staff is rude and ALWAYS have an attitude. They'll even fight with each other loudly in front of the whole cafeteria (not very professional if you ask me). The neighborhood also isn't too safe. I hate UIC (like 90% of students) with a burning passion. I also plan on transferring next year like six of my other friends (coincidence, I think not). Overall, please (undergrads especially) don't waste your time here. You will regret it.
