The building and the rooms are truly beautiful, and the staff is very nice and helpful. They have a good command of English. The rooms are small, but you're unlikely to be spending a ton of time there if you're a tourist anyway. There's a coffee/hot water machine and tea in the room, which is a great way to end a long day of exploration. There isn't a ton of English language television on their cable, but you do get CNN International.
They lost a star mainly for the location. It was several minutes' walk to any given Metro station, which would be fine (a little annoying with luggage, but fine), except it's kind of a business-y district. Thus, the streets are pretty dead when you're coming back to the hotel even at 8 or 9PM. When traveling alone, this does not feel super safe. On the plus side, the hotel is only ~15 minutes walk from Boulevard Malesherbes and Place Vendome, if you like to window shop (or shop if you're loaded) all the most expensive brands.
