They did hold a dog for us when we asked; this was back in 2006. She wasn't up for adoption at the time, because she needed medical procedures done, and they hadn't finished grooming her. Because she had been on the streets for so long, she was extremely matted and needed to be shaved; unfortunately this didn't occur to anyone at the shelter so we paid for that out of pocket. They gave us a bogus estimate of her age - they told us she was two years and later at the vet they said she was much older, so if you adopt keep in mind that some of the ages may not be entirely accurate - particularly if the dog was a stray.
