L'Auberge is a nice but aging hotel that is, literally, in the middle of nowhere. The layout is a bit clumsy with the hotel in one tower and a long walk to get anywhere in the facility.

Food: The buffet is only open on the weekend, which leaves a burger bar, an Asian cubby hole and the crazy expensive swanky restaurant (like $100/head) which doesn't do carryout. The burger bar food is seriously average. $31 for two burgers.

The location is just bad. We drove past an experimental goat farm to get there. I haven't experienced scenery that poor outside Tunica. Once there, you're marooned on a muddy shoreline. The rooftop pool and workout room are nice but it's a trek to get up there.

Gaming: You get decent game play for your money, better than Tunica. But, with all the corporate casinos using the same coldly calculating algorithms, the brutal math has succeeded in making gaming predictable and boring.

Staff: The real bright spot. I would hire, as an employee or a contractor, anyone I met. Remember, if you're not building your own dream you're selling your life to shareholder value and executive bonuses.

Overall, I was never comfortable staying there and we couldn't wait to get away from the hotel and back to civilization.
