While the food at Olive and Ivy gets an unequivocal thumbs-up, I was very disappointed with its identity confusion... is it a restaurant or a nightclub

The festival-grade pounding beats pummeling the space from the bar's DJ will make you wish you came before he set up, or for lunch instead. Most frustrating, requests to lower the volume were met by a professional, but uncaring staff... their response was "sorry, we're not turning it down." The tables are uncomfortably close together - we might as well have been dining with our neighbors. We were able to hear them shouting over the music about their discomfort with the experience as well.

Music? Fine, pick something that's compatible with dining rather than raves, and play it quietly enough that we can talk to each other. And what happened to intimacy? Space out the tables a bit more. I won't be returning to Olive & Ivy unless they decide it's a restaurant and make an enjoyable dining experience.
