My car broke down 50 miles from where I live and work. Got it towed to Pep Boys in Skokie, IL. I then leave on military duty and when I got a quote that was greater than I could afford, I tell them I ll try another place upon my return. OFFERED to pay storage fee and they respectfully declined. Even told me not to worry about it. Before I return from military duty, over the holidays mind u, I get a voicemail informing me I had several days before my car was towed. I then find a tow company to secure my car while I was away. The tow company and myself spent four days trying to contact the store. No one answers the phone. I then call customer service (got a reference number) and they proceed to tell me that the store s phone s were down for four days and that there was nothing they could do about my car being towed. Guess what, my car is now impounded and the manger actually states that he doesn t know when and where it was towed and that I need to go outside and read where it was towed. The sign reads unauthorized cars will be towed. Mine was clearly authorized and towed despite having informed them I was away on orders and having assured me that my car could remain until I return. My question to corporate is, will you too tell me that it s not your problem the way your customer service line and store manager told me?
