Thanks to previous comments, I was pretty nervous coming today. But my experience was quite good. Do not come early as they will tell you to come back exactly at your appointment time. Maybe because it's a Wednesday, my wait time is only about ten or fifteen minutes. Make sure your documents are complete and in the right order. I used clippers to put each category separate and used sticky notes to indicate each category, which really helped. If you visit multiple Schengen countries, make sure you have the itinerary and proof that Italy is the right place for you to get a visa. The rule is very specific and you need to highlight your evidence to the rule. Finally, if your legal status in the U.S. will expire before you finish your trip, you need to bring documents to prove that you have made an appointment with the U.S. Embassy to renew your visa and bring your travel itinerary as well.
