We lived at Stone Oaks apartments for 13 months. O...

We lived at Stone Oaks apartments for 13 months. Overall the experience was pleasant. The apartment was nice, as well as the amenities. We also really liked the staff and maintenance team.

There were a few negatives. They make you pay for valet waste removal, but quite often, valet waste will not take your trash. We found ourselves having to take out our own trash most of the time.

Neighbor noise was also quite bad. We lived on a first floor, and due to the build quality of the apartments, the upstairs stomping was literally unbearable. This is the main reason that we moved out.

Also, after moving, I got hit with a large bill of nearly $600 dollars. They claimed our two bedroom carpets needed to be replaced due to excessive pet damage. We have a 6lb dog that wears an indoor diaper so it was impossible that the damage came from us. Plus our second bedroom door was always closed because we didn't use it and didn't want to have to cool it, so our dog could not even get into that room. When I explained this, coupled with the facts that we only lived their 13 months, and that my fiance stays at home and doesn't work, none of it made any difference. They make you pay a $200 non-refundable pet fee, which the woman explained to me, DOESN"T COVER ANYTHING! It is just a fee that they make you pay. Plus they charge $35 a month for a pet, which also DOESN"T COVER ANYTHING!

Not to mention that the carpets were 2 years old when we moved it. Somehow, don't ask me how, this also proved that we were at fault.

My advice for anyone wanting to move it is to be cautious. They check carpets with a black light to look for pet damage, so interested parties may want to do this yourselves upon move it. That way you don't get nailed for something that you aren't responsible for.

Overall it was a decent experience, and a safe, clean place to live. Just make sure that you pick a top floor apartment and triple check for existing pet damage.
