I think this place is RIDICULOUS. I came in with my two boys (ages 2 and 4) to find a loving canine companion to join our family. These people decided to put on EVERY SINGLE DOG paperwork (there were over 30 dogs) that NOT ONE of them could be around young kids or be adopted by a family with young kids. I completely understand that a shelter does not know the background of a dog and that exposing one to a child when it has never been around one could end negatively. I really do understand that concept. But to not even give them a chance? A supervised meet and greet with the volunteer at the shelter holding the leash? I've gone to SEVERAL humane societies and this one is the only one that discriminates against families with children. I truly believe they don't even check to see if a dog could be great with kids and love being around kids and you know who is losing out?! The dog. The perfectly capable dog who has to sit there and rot away in a cage because the people caring for them decided that they weren't going to give the dog a chance to become part of a loving family. Huron valley needs a reality check.
